I present you three programmes that I personally use. I must say that it helps a lot because you don’t need to do all the work manually, by that I mean using paper or Microsoft Office.
S2S Software – Online Coaching tool
I use this to plan the work, to prepare the practice and to keep track of every session. It gives statistics of the attendance of players through the month and basic statistics related to the games. It is a great way of having everything in order without tons of paper.
To prepare the training, you can explain and show drills to the staff and to the players in different ways (2D and 3D animations, or simple diagram).
It’s really a must have since it covers every need a coach may have in terms of building up training cycles (season, month, week) and in terms of administration.
Polar Pro Trainer – Heart rate measurements
In order to control the intensity of the sessions, you should consider using Heart rate monitoring because it gives you a sense of how the guys worked during the practice. This way, you will be able to adjust intensities way better than you do by simply looking from the outside. The human eye is a very subjective tool… We use the Polar system, but any other is fine too.
The Master Tactician Pro for ipad – Tactical Animations
This programme is great for individual or small group discussions. It’s a very effective way of showing the players what you expect of them in terms of tactical movement, both in defense and offense. Drawing on a board is less useful because it’s a static interpretation of a dynamic game. I use this software also when we are preparing for set pieces before a game (positions, movements, combinations,..)
